Introduction

Issue 4 was the first edition published in 1993, and as such looked at some of the games that readers might be playing in the year. They also pit Super Mario Kart against Street Fighter II to find out the best game of the year. There was also coverage from the first Gamesmaster live show, and they looked at the best game importers.

It was another big issue for reviews with 24 games reviewed and several games scoring over 85%, including 10 PAL releases. The import version of Super Star Wars was one the biggest Import Review, scoring 89%, praising it as one of the best - if not the best - film-based games ever. In the UK  NHLPA Hockey scored 87%, Madden ‘93 scored 83%, Desert Strike 90%, Axelay 85% and the PAL version of Mario Kart scored 94%, although it got the same treatment as Mario World, with only half a page.

Players Guides this issue looked at Actraiser and Another World, the team investigated the Special Chips in SNES cartridges and some of the games utilising the chips to their fullest, including Pilot Wings and Mario Kart. They also took a look at the Super FX chip and what it was slated to bring to the table, although details were still a bit thin on the ground at this stage. Tips looked at Street Fighter II in particular, whilst in What Cart they looked at the top 5 Platform Games, Beat-Em-Ups and Games with the best Graphics.
