Introduction

The cover star for this issue was Link, as they reviewed A Link to the Past and had a guide for the first part of the game. They were truly impressed with the game, giving it 93% and later voting it as their favourite game on the SNES. This was definitely an issue for top games, with Super Mario World scoring 94% (albeit in rather a subdued half-page review) - their second favourite game. There were another 11 PAL releases in this issue, covering more of the SNES’s releases up to this point. There were also another 20 Import reviews, with the stars of the show being Axelay scoring 85% and Soul Blazer 89%.

In the news, they had coverage from Nintendo’s show in Tokyo, and had a four page diary from the legendary Peter Molyneux, including plenty of Japanese culture. They also looked at the announced UK games that were due from all the key SNES publishers. Wil looked at some of the famous Japanese films and TV shows that were being developed into games.

With all those reviews, there was little space for much else, although they also had tips for Super Mario Kart and looked at all nine Baseball games released so far. At the back of the mag, there was the now customary tips section, including Gamefreak, which was their Q&A section for readers' tips. They also introduced their first letters from readers, with many praising the new magazine, and included transcripts from some of the calls they received on their launch day.
