Introduction

Issue 69 came from E3 with 41 pages dedicated to it. The issue came with two cover stars, with Link on the main cover and Mario hiding under the flap. Of course they represented two of the biggest games to come, with the yet to be titled Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine looking fantastic at this stage. Other games like Metroid Prime, Resident Evil Zero, Starfox Adventures and Wario World made the future of Gamecube look very rosey indeed. The GBA wasn’t ignored either as the re-release of A Link to the Past, Yoshi’s Island and Metroid Fusion were all showcased at E3.

One of the star games in this issue was Pikmin, with the unique title getting 85%, the much hyped Spider Man: The Movie gained 72% on Gamecube and 75% on GBA. SSX Tricky gained 87% on Gamecube and V-Rally 3 88% on GBA. Unfortunately at this point Gamecube seemed to be getting a lot of multi-format shovelware, with many publishers releasing average games on all of the big three consoles.

How To looked at both Sonic games this issue, looking at a general player's guide for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and a Chaos Emeralds guide for Sonic Advance. At the back of the mag they chatted to members of the band Gorillaz and got an idea of their favourite games of the past, present and future.
