Introduction

Issue 7 brought two exclusives as the NGamer team got a chance to preview both Scarface and SSX Blur. Within the news they explored the Wii’s Internet capabilities, including some interesting applications for the Wii’s web browser. They also took a good look at Sonic and the Secret Rings and interesting maze platformer Mercury Meltdown Revolution.

The big review this month was the Japanese version of Pokemon Battle Revolution, which was basically a cut-down version of the Pokemon Stadium games from the N64, with none of the RPG elements from the Gamecube games. Martin scored it 70%, saying it didn’t do anything special. The USA Import was Eledees, which scored 82%. It really was an import special this issue, with only Excite Truck being a UK release of note at 77%. Issue 3’s big Game Far Cry Vengeance only scored 23%, with the game being particularly bad in both utilising the Wii’s sound and graphical capabilities.

Within World of Nintendo, there were plenty new Nintendo happenings to report on, including various Nintendo related music and sports items. They looked at various elements of Wario Ware, plus a small lookback on 2006 (that hey had apparently missed the previous issue). There was also a look at the world of Dragon Quest, an RPG which was sure to confuse some readers, and included a brief history of the series. They also printed some of the best Mii’s and Wii messages that readers had sent in via the Wii’s Internet.

In Download, they took a look at Hal Laboratory, who were mainly responsible for Kirby, amongst many other games. There were various tips, focusing on Super Castlevania IV, Super Probotector and R-Type. They also looked at some remixes of various Nintendo games - basically rom-hacks and bootlegs featuring Nintendo characters. If they had seen what people would have been doing with Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time right now, they would have been thoroughly impressed.
