Introduction
with the magazine of course on hand to tear it apart. Unfortunately it didn’t do quite as well as other games in the series and scored 82%. Also this issue ISS 2000 finally got a UK release, almost a year after the Japanese version. It scored 90%, meaning it was definitely worth the wait. Blues Brothers 2000 was the only other UK review, scoring a measly 28%.
Mario Tennis 64 was the game previewed this month, with their Japanese correspondent Max Everingham getting a chance to get an import copy. They showed the new character Waluigi, as well as several returning characters from previous Mario games, such as Birdo and Daisy. Elsewhere they had more shots on Banjo Tooie, and San Francisco Rush 2049 as well as the first shots of Pokemon Stadium 3, featuring the new monsters from Gold and Silver.
In Planet Game Boy, the game of the month was O’Leary Manager 2000, which was a superb combination of a management sim and Sensible Soccer clone - and duly scored five stars. Other games reviewed this month included TOCA Touring Car Championship and the pocket version of Wetrix. They also had some early previews of the Game Boy Advance including the supposedly first screenshot of Mario Kart on GBA.
Pokemon Snap got the first part of a fully mapped guide, looking at each of the levels of the game and some of the best shots. They also tipped the challenges from Perfect Dark. At the back of the mag Mark delved into the minds of some of the N64s greatest developers and some of the interesting easter-eggs they put into games, including Saddam Hussein in South Park and a very weird rip-off of the spice girls in Duke Nukem: Zero Hour.
